Each year International Women’s day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. ‘Inspiring Change’ is the 2014 theme.

This Saturday March 8, we continue our annual celebration of creative and inspirational women across the globe. This year we are joined by special guests to put together a programme designed to spotlight fabulous Women local entertainers and performers.

With pre-film entertainment.

Gentlemen are most welcome to attend in support of International Women’s Day. Last year our special guests of honour included Bonita Mabo AO and Frances Thompson, former Director of Perc Tucker Gallery.

Here is our final line up for Saturday thanks to all the hard working women who have helped put this programme together (-; see you all Saturday for a champagne cocktail or two…phew! while admiring the work of Exhibiting Artists – Sue Tilly, Barbara Leftwiche, Anna Mango and Deb Carter.

6:30 Wendy Sharpe – The Imagined Life (2010) & Painting Venus Vamp (2013). Sharpe is one of Australia’s best-loved artists, a natural creator with an exotic palette and an instinct for voluptuous form.

7.00 Intermission-Light supper provided / tea and coffee/ bar will be open

7.30pm Honored Guest speaker Florence Onus 7.40pm Honored Guest Speaker Mayor of Townsville Jenny Hill, followed by introduction to film.

9.45 pm Feature Film, Manganinnie (1980), presented by Merwez Whaleboat -Through lyrical images Manganinnie journeys across mountains towards the coast with Joanna, a white girl, in search of Manganinnie’s vanished tribe.
