Having graced our airwaves for the past 13 years, eccentric Sydney rock band Bluejuice are calling it quits at the end of 2014.

Before they go, they have one last treat left for us: a new album and a national farewell tour with several gigs in North Queensland.

The band’s two front men, Jake Stone and Stavros Yiannoukasspoke to Matt Okine and Alex Dyson from Triple J about their imminent conscious uncoupling.”We’re going out on a high note. There are a lot of chances to see us before the end of the year,” Yiannoukas said.

There was never any doubt that this kooky band was destined for greatness. They shimmied onto the music scene in 2001, but were hard to ignore with their larger-than-life personalities and sequined leotards. Their breakout track, Vitriol, is still the most played song of all time on Triple J. With a myriad of dazzling live-shows, three acclaimed albums and a platinum record under their belt, the boys are ready to go out with a bang. “It’s been 13 years and we don’t want to be a shit band and we don’t want to hang on until you lose interest in us. So we’re releasing one new song, and we’re punching as hard as we ever did. It’s not the worst thing that’s ever going to happen. We’re not dead yet.” Stone said.

Their latest album, Retrospectable, will be a collection of the band’s greatest hits. It will also include some new goodies; such as their last ever single, I’ll go Crazy. Bluejuice commence their national farewell tour on the 25th of September. They will be stopping over in Mackay, Townsville and Cairns for the North Queensland leg of the tour, making sure everyone gets the chance to say goodbye.
