On the 22nd of April, under a full moon, the cool cats of Townsville and beyond gathered at Umbrella Studio, to enjoy Artgaze Film Clubs screening of the documentary ‘Banksy Does New York’.

Needless to say it was a hit! We had one of our biggest audiences yet since screening Warwick Thorton’s The Darkside in 2014, which probably says a lot about the positive shifting of ideas on street art and the artists themselves that create it.

Guests were greeted and satiated by Artgaze Pop Up Bar’s signature cocktails and the sounds of our Pop Up Vinyl collection.

Prior to the feature screening, event host Shane Keen presented selected Independent graffiti shorts, demonstrating the art culture of local street art,  to whet our appetite for Banksy.

The Artgaze crew is pretty excited for our next Flim Club screening ~ Jodorowsky’s DUNE Friday May 20th. I’ll leave it to our Film Curator & Events Manager, Jeanette Hutchinson to blurb some hype~

‘It’s here Townsville arts lovers! Get ready for a mind bending film/event experience. The night also features a live soundscape by Psych O Decay. Enjoy the Artgaze Pop Up Bar signature cocktails, try a ‘ Hallucination Libation’ while listening to our out there vinyl collection. We also have lemon, lime and bitters for the non-drinkers. See you there! May there be peace and love to all sentient beings in our universe. Please support Independent arts and culture in Townsville and share this invite!’ ~ Jeanette.

Thank you all for your support and keep an eye out for a re-vamp of the Artgaze Magazine later in the year!
