After 11 successful seasons, the story between Jordi Alba and Barcelona came to an end. The historic defender terminated the remaining year of his contract and explained on his social networks, with an emotional video, why he made that decision.
“It has not been an easy decision, but I leave happy and calmbecause I think that, from my culé feeling, it is the best”, began Alba, while the leaders advance with their plan to reduce the wage bill to dream of the return of Lionel Messi.
The full-back said he felt “very lucky” and “totally proud” for everything he achieved in Barcelona, with which he won 18 titles: 6 Leagues, 5 Copas del Rey, 4 Spanish Super Cups, 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup and 1 European Super Cup.
“Who would have told that boy who, at the age of 9, began his path full of enthusiasm at the Barca school, that he was going to achieve so much with the club of his life”, reflected the player, who recorded how, after seven years in the quarry, he had to leave, and his return in the summer of 2012 “to fulfill what I had always dreamed of”.
“I will miss running the band at the Camp Nou a lot, feeling the encouragement of the fans, their drive, their affection and their joy in the great moments,” he acknowledged.
In the video, Alba said goodbye calling on the fans to attend his last game against Mallorca, where he will end his time as a Barça player at the age of 34: “See you on Sunday at the Camp Nou. Thank you, culés! And long live Barça!”

Alba followed the path of Sergio Busquets
a few weeks ago, Sergio Busquets announced that he would leave Barcelona at the end of this season, after 18 years at the club, after deciding not to renew his relationship. “Hello culés: The time has come to announce that this will be my last season at Barça”said the captain in a video shared by Barcelona’s social networks.
The club had offered Busquets to continue one more season at the express wish of the coach, Xavi Hernández, but the midfielder, whose contract ends on June 30, did not accept the renewal.
