The group calling itself Islamic State on Tuesday released a second video of British photojournalist John Cantlie, whom it is holding hostage.
The previous one had been released a little less than a week ago.
Cantlie, who was captured in Syria in 2012, is shown wearing an orange T-shirt, saying he was abandoned by Britain.
He is, as in the previous recording, sitting at a desk, from which he looks directly at the camera.
When the first video was released, BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner said the hostage was speaking “under duress”.
After viewing the video, he said it was used as “sort of a talk show parody” and “very much of a propaganda video”.
“It doesn’t end with an open threat… And he (John Cantlie) is reading a script. There is no knife or gun next to his head,” the correspondent explained.
It is not known when any of the videos were recorded, but the hostage references recent events.
Islamic State has killed three hostages in recent weeks. In video showing the death of British aid worker David Haines, the group threatened to kill another Briton, Alan Henning.
